What is Recruitment for Health Careers?
Our Health Careers Coordinator works with elementary, middle and high schools as well as postsecondary schools in our AHEC region to create and conduct programs designed to encourage students to explore and pursue one of the many health care professions. During the school year, we visit schools and classrooms, such as career exploratory programs, science classes, health occupation programs, in addition to participating in school and community health careers fairs. During the summer months there is a health careers camp that allows youth to explore the many opportunities in health care. We work with both youth and adults in exploring health care opportunities.
If you would like to schedule a classroom presentation either for high school or middle school students, please contact us. We provide both virtual and in person presentations.

What is P.H.Y.A. Day?
Annually since 2009, Magnolia Coastlands AHEC and the Public Health Student Association of Jiann Ping Hsu College of Public Health at Georgia Southern University sponsor PHYA Day. PHYA is an acronym for Public Health for Young Adults and represents a day when regional high school students come to learn about career opportunities in the field of public health through participatory activities. Students leave the program with resources for additional public health career exploration.
PHYA Day will be held on Statesboro and Armstrong Campuses at Georgia Southern University.

Find Out About Health Career Camps
Every year the Magnolia Coastlands Area Health Education Center sponsors at least one health career camp for middle and/or high school students. Camp Activities Include:
